Project 48 Dance & Batsheva Ensemble

Project 48 Dance returns to host the dancers of the Batsheva Ensemble. Ten leading artists from the worlds of dance, theater, writing, and visual arts meet the dancers of the Batsheva Ensemble for a creative “blind date”. In two rounds of only 24 hours each, ten original works are created and presented to the audience at the end of each cycle.

Each round begins with a raffle that determines the groups—who will enter the studio with whom, with no prior preparation. All groups share a common starting point: a video reference that serves as inspiration, a direction, or a point of resistance for the creation. At the start of each performance, the reference is revealed to the audience, followed by the world premieres of the works, one after the other.

At the end of the first performance, all names go back into the hat and are drawn again. New groups, different dynamics, and a second round begins, concluding the following day with another one-time-only performance.

All studio work processes will be broadcast live on Instagram, offering a rare glimpse into moments of creation in real-time, providing an opportunity to react, stay curious, and ask questions.

The project is held in collaboration with The School of Dance, The Kibbutz Seminar, which hosts all creative processes within its studios.

The process is also be accompanied by Ascaf Avraham, Batsheva’s house photographer, who will present a pop-up-exhibition every evening before the performance, featuring moments captured in his lens over the previous 24 hours.
